The system includes an unobtrusive frame placed over home plate, a computer for user input and reporting results, and a laser printer. Using laser optics a pitched ball is tracked and recorded as it passes over the plate. The system is designed for use in a training facility, and displays a live graphical report of each pitch including the speed, call-out of Strike vs. Ball, and movement. Results are stored by pitcher and by coach for easy retrieval.
A summary report is printed at the end of each training session showing speed in MPH, location of each pitched ball, and the movement in inches of the ball from 12” in front of the plate. Since the VLM Pitch Tracker measures more than just velocity, the pitcher and coach can work on movement, location, AND speed to increase the effectiveness of the training session, and get a printed report documenting the session. Results can be compared over time to track improvements and changes.
Data is stored for future reference on a central server and available for review and analysis by players, coaches, and recruiters.
